Comments on Mitch Rompola/Buck:

First I would like to say thanks for such a great site.
About the Rompala Buck....I don't know why it is so hard for people to get it. The guy for whatever reason is not interested in having the deer scored. Why should he have to prove anything to the world? He is obviously not interested in the money and shy's away from the spotlight. That doesn't make him a bad guy or a liar for that matter. I know exactly where he is coming from. Between one of my friends and myself, we have killed a boat load of Pope and Young bucks in an area not regarded as prime whitetail country, the Northeast. And guess how many of them are in "The Book"......none! Zero! Zilch!
I know myself that I have been approached on several occasions and asked to do articles, radio shows, television spots, and so on. My friend has had the same. We decline. Our walls are our personal testament not some stupid book. "The Book" is not for everyone and some people just don't care that much about money.....the world needs to deal with that.
If all the dooms Sayers spent more time in the woods instead of knocking others who do put there time in,maybe they too would shoot a "good one".
In conclusion, I would like to congratulate Mr. Rompala on his "Whopper", and I personally hope he never submits and has the deer scored. He was nice enough to let a picture out and for that the world should be thanking him. Enjoy your buck Mr. Rompala...he's yours and yours alone, and I bet he looks damn good over your fireplace....I'm jealous!!!

I have herd many stories but this is the first good picture I have seen of it.  It does not look like it has any mule deer blood in it because of the color of its nose (mule deer have white faces) .  The antler structure is typical white tail, just big.  I would say it looks like a dam nice white tail deer that I wish I could have gotten.

After reading all the articles on Mitch Rompola and this
tremendous buck I think there is something not right with
this whole story.  As an avid and ethical bow hunter there
are just too many things that do not add up. If this animal
was shot at 12 yards as he claims it was, a bow at 58# would
have sent his arrow clean through it, given the shot place-
ment behind the front shoulder.  Mitch Rompola has taken
several big whitetails with bow and arrow, so there should not
be any reason that his arrow only went 1/2 way in this animal!
Not to mention his passed history being less than outstanding,
raises some question as to his credibility and ethics.
If this whole story is on the up and up he needs to be congrad-
ulated. There is an easy way to determine if the deer is authen-
tic.  X-ray will show any flaws if it is over than the real thing.
If Mitch Rompola has nothing to hide there should  be no problem.
Should he object to this, then he should withdraw his claim to
the world record whitetail, And Apologize to the entire hunting
world, and take whatever punishment he would have coming.
This is definitely not the kind of ethics or morals I want to
teach my own sons to live and hunt by. I believe many of my
fellow bow hunters will agree with this.
Thank you for letting me voice my comments/opinions.

                                         Sincerely, Kent Palazzo
